Once again, we are overwhelmed with the generosity of our customers and members of our local FALA chapter. Each year, Guardian Jacksonville has coordinated the distributions of personal care items such as soap, shampoo, and toothpaste to needy assisted living residents within our community. Through these donations hundreds of lives are blessed, including those making the donations. This is just one of the stories shared with us this year:
Rebecca, a local hospice representative, was shopping for donations. When it was time to check out, she felt drawn to a specific cashier. The cashier’s name was Donna. While checking out, Donna asked Rebecca about her purchases. Rebecca explained that they were donations for needy individuals within our community. Rebecca could sense that Donna was touched by the story. Donna stopped the check-out process and told Rebecca how hospice had cared for her father. Donna said that hospice had helped her entire family through their loss and she would never forget how wonderful they were. To Rebecca’s great surprise and delight, Donna said to take the shopping cart and add 50 more items from the store. While Rebecca resumed her shopping, Donna announced the event to the other shoppers int he store, increasing the donations to 100 items. Through the kindness of strangers, the original donation was multiplied substantially allowing an even greater number of residents to benefit this holiday season.
We wish to thank everyone for their donations and support of ALF residents in need along the First Coast. The Guardian Family wishes you a blessed holiday season and bright New Year!
