In modern long-term care pharmaceutical dispensing, time is of the essence. Here at Guardian Pharmacy of Southeast Florida, we have an Auto-Med Machine that allows us to offer facilities various options when it comes to dispensing their medications.
The process is simple. A resident’s prescription information is entered into our computer system by the data department. The Auto-Med Machine then runs medications to be dispensed for either seven, 14 or 28 day cycles.
The Auto-Med Machine then provides barcoded, unit-dose or multi-dose dispensing that interfaces with bedside charting systems, allowing for faster and more precise dispensing. AutoMed also provides compliance packaging for both nursing home and assisted living environments, delivering prescriptions in packets that organize medications in the sequence and amounts that each patient should take them.
